What Safe at Home collects, how it is used, how long we keep it, and your consumer rights over it. Plain English, no defined terms.
Safe at Home is a service operated by Darpan Singhal as an individual sole proprietor, at 66 S Hampton Dr, Wyomissing, PA 19610, United States. “Safe at Home” is the name of the service — it is not a registered company or trading name. Darpan Singhal is responsible for the information described on this page.
Only what the service needs to work. There is no advertising, no tracking across other websites, and no analytics profile built about you.
- Mobile number
- Entered by you to sign in and, if you choose, to receive alerts. This is the only number we ever text.
- Your name
- Optional. Used only to address you.
- Their name
- Whatever you choose — “Mom” is typical. We do not ask for their full name, address, or date of birth.
- Check-in time
- So the Echo asks at the right moment where they live.
- Check-in results
- For each day: whether they answered, and whether they said they were okay. Nothing they say is recorded or stored as audio.
- Device link
- An anonymous identifier from Amazon that links their Echo to their record. It contains no personal information.
- Consent record
- The date and time you agreed to receive texts, or later withdrew that agreement.
We do not collect health records, diagnoses, medication, payment card details, location, contacts, or voice recordings.
- To ask the daily question on the Echo and record the answer.
- To text you when a check-in is missed or the person says they are not okay.
- To send the one-time code that signs you in.
- To show you the history when you open the website.
- To keep proof of when and how you agreed to be texted, which US telecommunications rules require us to hold.
We do not use your information for anything else, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
Safe at Home maintains strict privacy policies, ensuring that personal information and mobile information of our users is not sold, shared, rented, released, or traded to third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information is shared only with the service providers below, solely so the service can function:
- Amazon Web Services
- Hosts the service and delivers our text messages. Data is stored in the United States.
- Amazon Alexa
- Operates the Echo that asks the question.
- Mobile carriers
- Carry our texts to your phone. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
These providers act only on our instructions and may not use the information for their own purposes. We would disclose information if legally compelled to. Nothing else.
SMS consent is never shared. Your agreement to receive text messages, and the mobile number it applies to, are used solely to send you the Safe at Home alerts described above. They are not sold, shared with affiliates, or used for lead generation or third-party analytics.
- Check-in history
- Kept while the person is on your account, so you can see the pattern over time. Deleted when you remove them.
- Sign-in codes
- Five minutes, then deleted.
- Your account
- Until you ask us to delete it.
- Consent records
- Kept after deletion where telecommunications rules require it, and used for nothing else.
Removing someone from your account deletes their record, their check-in history, and disconnects their Echo. That cannot be undone.
These are your consumer rights in respect of the information above. Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account, your number, and the records of anyone on it.
- Stop texting you — permanently, or just the daily summary.
Email support@thesafeathome.com and we will action it. There is no charge, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
You can stop texts yourself at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. Text START to the same number to resume. Alerts can also be switched off in the website’s Settings. Turning texts off does not switch the service off — the daily check-in still runs and you can still see every result on the website.
Safe at Home is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
Traffic is encrypted in transit and data is encrypted at rest. Sign-in codes are stored hashed, never in readable form. Access is limited to what the service itself needs. No system is perfect, and we would tell you if something happened that affected you.
If this page changes materially we will update the date below. Continuing to use Safe at Home after a change means the updated version applies.
